両親の生前に制作した墓である。

京都市の外れにある普門軒という小さな禅寺の一画にある。京都の条里制という歴史的都市構造と関西の典型的な聖地(900mmx900mm)、都市グリッドと配置の方位のずれをもとにして立方体をくり抜く。またどの面も異なるファサードを持つという完結しない完結性によって、どちらの世界にもとどまれないようなオブジェとした。完成から数年後に二人はその中に入ってしまい、計画時からお世話になった和尚さんは奥さんの故郷フランスに移住してしまい、この世界も、そして向こうの世界もあわただしくなるように思われる。

This tomb for my parents is located in a small Zen temple called Fumon-ken, situated on the outskirts of Kyoto. The design is based on Kyoto’s historical urban structure known as the ‘jyo-ri system,’ the typical sacred sites of the Kansai region (900mm x 900mm), and the misalignment of the urban grid and the orientation of the site, resulting in a cube being carved out.
The fact that each face has a different façade creates an unfinished completeness, making it an object that seems to belong to neither world. A few years after its completion, my parents passed away(2014 and 2017), and the monk who knew them and took care of this project since its inception moved to France, his wife’s hometown. It seems that both this world and the another will become hectic.
